A Busy Weekend

Both Kyle and I have had very busy weekend. Kyle has been on lates all weekend and I have been weaving family life round by busy schedule.  Friday was the usual Welcome To The Weekend Disco I do for the Boarders on a Friday night. We have a disco in the Gym and a good sing along on karaoke as well.

4am on Saturday morning, I got a call from EDT, (Emergency Duty Team at Social Services) needing an emergency placement for a boy who’s mum unfortunately is haring an Mental Health Crisis and had to be detained by the Police. Thee poor lad was very frightened and very tired. He cried most of the night, so Kyle and I only got about 3 hours sleep. He’s settling in well now and gets on well with the other boys.

Saturday afternoon is always dedicated to doing my show on Hospital Radio. I present a kids show and often have kids from the Children’s Wards down to help in the studio. The phone lines always go really mad during thee kids show, as the kids on both wards, jam our switchboard. I also went up to the wards and got loads of requests off the kids.

Thankfully, on Friday I got my custom intro sent on disc. I had paid 300 quid out of my own money, for a reworded version of the Theme to Fireman Sam and had it made by a professional jingle company. It is about 5 minutes long, with a 2 and a half minute instrumental part, for me to talk over. The lyrics to my into are as follows:

When he hears that DJ Chime, DJ Sam is there on time
Putting on his coat and hat in less than 7 seconds flat!
He’s always on the scene
DJ Sam!
and he keeps the studio nice and clean,
DJ Sam!
you cannot ignore
‘Cos Sam is the DJ next door.

Walking  down the Hospital Main Street
Greeting people that he meets
Now the CD Player has got jammed
So, hurry! Hurry! DJ Sam!

So move aside, make way
DJ Sam!
‘Cos he’s gonna save the day
DJ Sam!
He’s the one we adore
Sam is the DJ next door

2 MINUTE 30 INSTRUMENTAL BREAK (Which I talk over)

So move aside, make way.
DJ Sam!
‘Cos he’s gonna save the day
DJ Sam!
He’s the one we adore
Sam is the DJ next door

When you’r feeling very sad
Sam will make you laugh out loud
If you’re stuck give him a shout
Sam will always help you out

Hooray for DJ Sam!
He’s always on the wards
Hooray for DJ Sam!
And when there’s something wrong.
He’ll always be along
To help both you and me
Don’t you see.

He’s always on the scene.
DJ Sam!
And he keeps the studio nice and clean
DJ Sam!
You can not ignore
Sam is the DJ next door

Everybody knows
DJ Sam!
So join in on his show
DJ Sam!
Well, we’ve seen him before.
Sam is the DJ next door.

So move aside, make way!
DJ Sam!
‘Cos he’s gonna save the day!
DJ Sam!
He’s the one we adore
Sam is the DJ next door.

And he’s always on the scene
DJ Sam!
And the studio needs a clean!
DJ Sam!
You can not ignore,
Sam is the DJ next door.

Sunday was a great laugh, as the kids got up at 5am and made Kyle a birthday breakfast which he enjoyed. Josh went to football after and the other boys went to town with my mum. This allowed me to get some work done round the house.

Once Kyle went to work, I decided to get the boys to bake a cake for his birthday. We decided on a sponge cake, with buttercream icing and on the top, shortbread Scottish flag, with a blue icing covering it and white sherbet sticks to  make the white cross.  It’s very rare for me to post photos of the kids, as I still have to be careful in relation to the type of kids I care for, but these three cheeky rascals are not under any protection orders, so I was able to snap this pic of them baking.  More flour went over them and on the floor, rather than the cake! Unfortunately, the cat also got floured, as he was under the kitchen table when the kids were baking. He tried to make a dash for it, but as the kids were sending flour everywhere, get got floured and left white paw prints up the stairs, before going to sleep on the end of Kyrylo’s bed. Don’t worry, he was fine. I just brushed the flour off him with my grooming mitt! It took ages to clean up after the boys!

I took the cake (and the kids| over to the Jets Unit at the end of tea and the we all sang happy birthday and watched Kyle blow the candles out. I wonder what he wished for!!?? The boys also gave him presents. He got smellies new mats for his car and  a framed pic of the family, which he i going to put on his desk at work. I gave him a watch, with “to my one true love Kyle 4 Sam forever ” engraved on the back. he gave me a big kiss, which made me go bright red, as the kids reached with  a very loud oooooooooooh! and a wof whistle!

Sunday is family night in our house and we chose to watch Back to the Future on DVD. No sooner had Jenny and I had put the boys to bed, my tubby hubby Kyle,  came home knackered. He had a quick natter and then went to bed.I am now in the middle of paperwork for home and work, but I won’t be long before I go to bed too!
